Topic: James Wolfin: Lawns to Legumes, converting lawns to pollinator habitat
Speaker Bio: James Wolfin is a sustainable land care manager at Metro Blooms, and former graduate student at the University of Minnesota where he studied turf alternatives for bees under the advisement of Drs. Marla Spivak and Eric Watkins. At Metro Blooms, James leads a variety of projects focused on installing landscapes with an emphasis on the conservation of natural resources and pollinators. James also conducts leads educational workshops for residents, teaching them how to use native and well adapted plants to create resilient yards to improve water quality and provide habitat for pollinators. Most notably, James is helping to lead the Lawns to Legumes program, a state funded initiative where $900,000 was allocated to convert traditional turfgrass into pollinator friendly plantings.
