The Art of Beekeeping in Northern Climates (Stillwater)

Get started in the fascinating world of beekeeping. This workshop will address everything you need to practice the art of beekeeping. Topics include: why bees are beneficial, basic bee biology and behavior, beekeeping equipment, selecting a site and starting a bee colony, managing honeybees throughout the year, extracting honey, preparing your hives for winter, and managing surviving colonies the following year. Participants will receive handouts of all topics covered including a list of resources, and will be able to see beekeeping equipment, and catalogs.

Presented by JoAnne Sabin, beekeeper and a member of the Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association (MHBA) and The Honey Bee Club of Stillwater.

There is a $5 discount offered for members of the co-op. Bring a lunch or buy a quick lunch from the deli at River Market across the street from class.
